1. Notes on the disposal of electrical and electronic equipment and the meaning of the symbol in accordance with Appendix 3 to the ElektroG (trash bin)

Owners of old devices must have them collected separately from unsorted municipal waste. Waste electrical and electronic equipment must therefore not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste and in particular do not belong in the household waste. Rather, these old devices must be collected separately and disposed of, for example, via the local collection and return systems.
Owners of old devices must also separate old batteries and accumulators, which are not enclosed by the old device, from them at a collection point before handing them over.

The latter does not apply if the old devices are separated from other old devices in accordance with section 14 subsection 5 sentences 2 and 3 ElektroG as part of the opting by the public waste disposal authorities for the purpose of preparation for reuse in order to prepare them for reuse.
Owing to the symbol according to Appendix 3 to the ElektroG, owners can recognize old devices that are to be recorded separately from unsorted municipal waste. The symbol for the separate collection of electrical and electronic equipment represents a crossed-out wheelie bin and is structured as follows:
